Our Impact
Our Commitment
At Woven Market Africa, our work is rooted in cultural heritage, community empowerment, and sustainable fashion but our impact doesn’t stop there. We are actively aligning our operations and values with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that shape a better future for people and the planet.

We empower women artisans, with over 70% of our artisan partners being women, and we are building a structure that extends this empowerment to widows and young women displaced due to insecurity by equipping them with self-sufficient vocational skills. Through this work, we are creating pathways for women to lead, earn, fostering skill-based employment, financial independence, and opportunities for creative expression.
We promote sustained, inclusive, and dignified work by ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and ongoing capacity development for all members of our supply chain. We run a made-to-order model that minimizes overproduction and textile waste. But beyond reducing fabric waste, we focus on avoiding the most tragic form of waste: human potential.
We invest in tools that help artisans produce more efficiently while retaining the unique quality of handwoven work. And through every step, we emphasize cultural sustainability, economic equity, and low-environmental impact.
Weaving Africa Forward
At Woven Market Africa, we believe the loom holds the power to transform economies, preserve heritage, and restore dignity through meaningful work. Our impact is rooted in one central question:
“If we could reweave Africa’s future, would we start with the loom?”
The challenges are clear. Our indigenous handwoven textiles are losing demand. Our weavers are aging out. Younger generations no longer see weaving as a viable or dignified livelihood. There are few systems in place for training, scaling, or elevating this industry on a national or global level.
These are the questions that stirred us into action and catalyzed the founding of Woven Market Africa.
Preserving Heritage, Creating Livelihoods
We work directly with local artisans across Nigeria to revive indigenous handwoven textiles and reconnecting them with modern fashion and interior markets. Through custom design and collaborative development, we create meaningful garments and handwoven textiles for bridal industry, interior design and creative projects.
Reviving the Artisan Economy
We are building a functional, scalable artisan economy that preserves craft and enables growth, innovation, and legacy. Over 70% of our artisan network are women. Many now earn sustainable incomes that support education, land ownership, and home building.
